Meet the New BMW R 1300 R: Your Next Dynamic Roadster

The BMW R 1300 R packs more punch, more agility, and more personality than ever before. Building on BMW’s Boxer-engine heritage, this bike is reimagined from top to bottom, from engine, chassis, ergonomics, and styling. Meaning you can experience a truly spirited ride without giving up comfort or touring readiness.
At its heart, the R 1300 R boasts a 1,300 cc boxer engine tuned to deliver 145 hp at 7,750 rpm and 149 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, making it the most powerful production BMW Boxer yet. Thanks to a wider bore and shorter stroke (106.5 x 73 mm), it revs freely to 9,000 rpm, with ShiftCam valve timing ensuring smooth power delivery and impressive efficiency.
Out on the road, the reworked chassis comes into its own. Its new sheet-metal steel main frame and die-cast aluminium rear subframe concentrate mass around the centre of gravity, giving razor-sharp handling and rock-steady stability. Up front, a 47 mm upside-down telescopic fork replaces the old Telelever system, while the EVO Paralever rear suspension keeps everything planted at speed. New hollow-spoke 17″ wheels remove over 1.4kg of weight for snappier acceleration and braking. If all this isn't enough, you can add Dynamic Suspension Adjustment as an optional extra, for on-the-go tuning of damping, spring stiffness, and load compensation.
Getting aboard is a breeze, thanks to a choice of seat heights well below 790mm. The ergonomics triangle has been reshaped too. Slightly rear inclined footrests and flatter handlebars shift you forward over the front wheel for sharper feedback, yet the position remains relaxed for two-up touring. And speaking of touring, the new electrified 26- and 29-litre side cases lock and unlock with your central key, light up inside and even include a USB-C port. A strapless tank bag attaches on and off in seconds, making weekend getaways effortless.
To customise to your style, choose from four distinct models colours, including Snapper Rocks Metallic, Racing Blue Exclusive, Light-White Performance, or the Kilauea Blackstorm Option 719. Three riding modes come standard, with Pro modes and pre-selection available as options. Add features like heated seats, Active Cruise Control, Adaptive Headlight, or the Automated Shift Assistant, and you’ve got a roadster that’s as customisable as it is exhilarating.
Whether carving up a B road or cruising a coastal route, the BMW R 1300 R delivers the perfect blend of sport and comfort, just as a modern roadster should. Check out more BMW models on the Vertu Motorcycles site, along with advice on servicing, joining the Vertu Motorcycle club and more.
