Five Top UK Motorcycle Rides in April 2025

With the weather now officially warming into good riding conditions, it’s time to scratch that adventuring itch. Getting one of these long runs under your belt will kick your season off to a cracking start.
Snake Pass, Peak District
- Glossop - Sheffield
- 26 miles
- Impressive elevation changes and challenging corners
A hill ride crossing the Pennines, Snake Pass – or the A57 – has it all. While the road is a popular destination, the majority of public traffic is now redirected via Woodhead Pass, meaning more opportunities for gloriously uninterrupted riding. Between landscape, twisties and elevation changes, it’s one of the UK's favourite choices for a solo ride or a group.
It’s worth noting, because of its elevation we’d advise checking the weather conditions before you ride.
The Cat and Fiddle, Peak District
- Macclesfield – Buxton
- 12 miles
- Straight open sections and sweeping open bends
While you’re taking on Snake Pass, here’s another popular Peak District hill run: the Cat and Fiddle (A537/A54). It’s a great option for challenging your handling. Due to its popularity, the road is now sprinkled with average speed cameras, but with the Cat and Fiddle Inn conveniently sat at the top of the elevation, this run remains one of the most popular choices for putting rubber to road.
Wainwright’s Coast to Coast, Cumbria to North Yorkshire
- St Bees – Robin Hood’s Bay
- 192 miles
- A massive variety of riding thanks to the sheer amount of tarmac ahead of you
St Bees starting point on the west coast, crossing the entire country and ending at the picturesque east coast, Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire just in time for their famous fish and chips.
Starting out first as a popular long-distance hike, the route has been going for many decades. There are variations on exact roads you can take but any route you choose takes you through the stunning Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North York Moors National Park.
Two Moors Way, Exmoor to Dartmoor
- Lynmouth – Ivybridge
- 95 miles
- Coastal views, and open moorland roads
Criss-crossing your way down the Cornish countryside, this is a ride that will reward you whether you choose to throw yourself into the ride itself, or slow down and take in the landscape around you. It’s a perfect choice for an escape from the hectic bustle of your week.
The weather will greatly dictate your experience, so ensure to check before you plan your trip before you’re unexpectedly engulfed in the famed moorland fog.
The North East 250, Glenshee circular
- Glenshee – Glenshee
- 250 miles
- Mountainous terrain and coastal views with steeper and more technical sections
While this isn’t an ‘all in one go’ kind of ride, it's a perfect long weekender. With plenty of places to stop overnight or camp, this ride takes you right into the heart of the wilderness.
There are more technical portions of the drive but also the opportunity to explore smaller side roads as you go.
